YourTube

Watch with intention, not the algorithm.

We're constantly bombarded with an endless feed of shorts, autoplay, and algorithm-driven suggestions engineered to keep you watching, not to help you learn anything. YourTube breaks that cycle.

Pick a subject and get a focused, curated list of relevant YouTube content to browse and watch — no endless scroll, no algorithm nudging you toward whatever keeps you hooked next. Just the content you came for, so you can build healthier, more intentional viewing habits.

A clean, uncluttered interface — just enough to shape your results, with nothing else competing for your attention.

Can't think of a subject? Try one of the rotating suggested topics below and start learning something new.

How does it work?
YourTube runs entirely in your browser and talks directly to YouTube's own official Data API — using your own free API key, not a shared or hidden one. Nothing is scraped, and nothing passes through a third-party server: your key stays in your browser and is only ever sent to Google. Videos still play through YouTube's own player, so creators are credited and monetized exactly as normal — this only changes how you find and browse what to watch, not where it comes from or who it supports. You can get your own key free from Google Cloud Console in a couple of minutes via the Video Library Card panel in the sidebar.
Where this came from
This idea was born somewhere it couldn't have found a signal even if it tried. On a camping trip, fully unplugged — no bars, no notifications, just a fire and a father-son conversation — the talk turned to what algorithmic feeds are quietly doing to society how people spend their attention. My son Anton put it simply: what if you could just watch what you actually came to learn, without a platform working to keep you scrolling? That one sentence is the whole idea. Everything else — the app, filters, trusted channels, and the deliberate lack of an autoplay chain — is just the engineering it took to keep that sentence true. There's something fitting about where it came from: the cure for an algorithm-driven feed, dreamed up somewhere the algorithm couldn't reach.
The campfire where the idea for YourTube started
The actual field, the actual fire, the actual conversation.
We made this service available because a good idea sitting in one family's head doesn't help anyone else. Enjoy!
